While hiking from the town of Tlalconteno to the town of La Gloria, both located in Veracuz, I found a juvenile skink (Eumeces bilineatus bilineatus) hiding under a rock. After a few attempts I managed to get the skink on my hand.
Next, the skink walked up my arm, and managed to end up hiding under one of the straps of my backpack. Esme carefully removed the animal out of this dangerous position. While it rested on her hand I could take the above photo.
