I had also no problem restoring a backup of Windows 95 made with Norton Ghost. The VMware Player booted the CD fine, and after like 6 or more reboots (remember, Windows 95 detects a lot of new hardware) of the virtual machine I had a backup of my Acer Extensa 367T notebook up and running. The only limitation was that I had only 16 colors available, probably caused by no driver available supporting the virtual videocard correctly.
