Mozilla Software Developer Failed

Thursday, November 8, 2007 | 2 comments

Recently I got rid of the issue that caused Mozilla Firefox to show a "Software Update Failed" dialog window every time I started the browser. Shortly after a new update of Firefox came available, and caused the same issue.

Mozilla Thunderbird suffers from the same issue, probably because both programs share some code. Why this bug showed up in the first place is beyond me. In my not so humble opinion this is the work of a programmer who has a lot to learn and probably shouldn't be doing so by working on an open source project with a userbase as large as Mozilla Firefox / Mozilla Thunderbird.

Anyway, today I decided to blog on how to get rid of the "Software Update Failed" window showing up each time you start Firefox (or Thunderbird).
