Creative Zen Nano Hacking

Saturday, January 6, 2007 | 0 comments

Ever since Esme got her Creative Zen Nano 512 MB I was wondering if it would be easy to upgrade the device to 1 GB. Today after some googling I found a short tutorial on how to upgrade a Creative MuVo V200 to 1 GB.

The mp3 player consists of two parts, the main part with the mp3 and fm chip, and a daughter board containing the lcd and the flash chips (and some other stuff). The main flash is hidden behind the LCD. But on the 512MB version that is the only flash chip. There is an empty space where a secondary flash can be added.

The MuVo is either similar or identical to the Zen Nano based on the photo that comes with the article. However, the upgrade doesn't look like an easy one since it involves soldering of surface mounted parts. If you want to give it a try, check out Creative MuVo V200 Flash Memory Upgrade for instructions and let me know how it worked out.
