Perl: posting to Usenet and recommended books

Friday, August 22, 2008 | 0 comments

Today I cleaned up a short Perl program I had played with yesterday. The program is a simple example of how one can post a message to a Usenet group using the Net::NNTP module.

In the late afternoon I saw a huge swarm of dragonflies out of the window of our bathroom. Earlier that week Esme had told me that she had seen a lot of dragonflies, and today I was able to witness a huge number, I guess well over 50, of those agile insects myself. However, I couldn't think of a way to make a photo of the large group, so no pictures.

Finally, later that day I made a list of five Perl books I would like to recommend to anyone seriously involved with programming Perl.
