I have recently been listening to the album Leviathan by Mastodon. And three tracks of that album I immediately liked: "Naked Burn", "I am Ahab", and "Joseph Merrick (instrumental)". Especially "Naked Burn" is a solid 10 out of 10 in my ears, with "I am Ahab coming" very close a second.
But somehow the rest of Leviathan doesn't click with me. I also listened to a few tracks on other Mastodon albums, but same effect: no click. Maybe I should give Leviathan a few more good listens, but on the other hand I am wondering can you suggest Mastodon songs that come close to, what I consider outstanding quality, of "Naked Burn", "I am Ahab", and "Joseph Merrick"? Please post your suggestions as a comment to this page.
Also band suggestions that sound close (but not identical) to the three aforementioned songs are very welcome. I am already very aware of Opeth, a band I like a lot (not saying that Opeth sounds similar to Mastodon, but maybe it adds to the description of what I am looking for).
