Female black widow spider

Female black widow spider (Latrodectus sp.).

When I lifted a flat stone on our way to the barranca (canyon) near Chavarillo, I found a black widow spider with egg sac. The female got quite restless because of all the bright light invading her hiding place, and walked several times away from her egg sac.

If you look close you can see that the sky, and me taking the picture, are reflected in the abdomen of the female black widow spider.

This photo gallery is part of The walk to the barranca.
