Close-up of a scorpion in abandoned burrow

The scorpion in this picture was hiding, and probably living, in what I guess to be the abandoned burrow of a tarantula. As you can see, the color of the scorpion comes very close to the color of its surroundings and hence it's easy to overlook. Since the volcanic rocks in this place have many holes, juvenile scorpions can sometimes be found hiding in small holes in the underside of such stones.

This gallery is part of Scorpions and volcanic rocks - El Limón Totalco part 2.
