Esme and I kept looking under the plenty of volcanic rocks laying everywhere, carefully not to bump into a cactus. And there it was, after removing yet another stone, our first scorpion of the day.

Great photos. By the way the lizard you have on the rock is probably a western common fence lizard... it looks exactly like the ones we get here in San Bernardino County Redlands California.
