Taking Lives (movie, 2004)

In the evening Esme and I went to the movie "Taking Lives". The movie had a good start, with excellent music by U2 and the Clash, but after the jump to the "present", the movie became quite dull and predictable with one exception. Both Esme and I had a good adrenaline rush somewhere in the middle. But overall, the movie seemed to be centered around Angelina Jolie, a "special agent". Most other characters have no dimension at all.

What makes her so special is not made clear. She enters the movie as a cousin of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Then they try to make her the twin of Samantha (Profiler). Both attempts fail miserably.

The jokes in the movie are bad. Example: Angelina Jolie makes clear that she can speak French sometime after an agent made a joke, in French, about her. When the agent made the joke, my first thought was: "she will make clear she speaks French at some point in the future".

The ending is the worst part of the movie. I first thought that Angelina Jolie was doing extremely bad acting. But it's another dead give away in the movie.
