When I installed Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) on my Acer Aspire 4320, madwifi also got installed (via Linux restricted modules). Since I was sure that having both madwifi and ndiswrapper on my notebook was not going to work, I removed the outdated version of madwifi.

Thanks Theodore.
I tried to use madwifi, but because my lack of knowledge, I couldn't make it work. When I tried NDISwrapper next, I figured out some things I had been doing wrong, but decided to wite instructions on how to install NDISwrapper first.
I do have plans to give madwifi a try though, especially since I asume a more recent version, and hopefully one that works, will be included with Ubuntu 8.04.

Nice guide. Very precise and complete.
Just out of curiosity, why didn't you install a latest version of madwifi to support your atheros chipset?
