The above photo of a yellow cactus flower was taken on my birthday close to the town Ajalpan. The town is a short bus trip away from Tehuacán, a city in Puebla. The area is the rain shadow of the Sierra Madre de Oaxaca providing an excellent climate for cactuses and scorpions.
