Today Esme rented two movies: "Modigliani" and "Secrets & Lies". She wanted to see Modigliani today, so we did.
I had never heard of a painter called Modigliani, so I looked up the name, and noticed some names of other painters I had heard about: Picasso and Diego Rivera. The latter because Esme and I watched "Frida" some time ago, with Salma Hayek in the role of Frida Kahlo.
The movie "Modigliani" was in my opinion a bit too slow in the beginning. But after some time I got more and more into it, and really started to enjoy it, despite the bad ending for Amedeo Modigliani (Andy Garcia) which was so clearly coming. I really liked the acting of both Andy Garcia and Omid Djalili (Pablo Picasso), especially how they seemed bitter enemies, but also could be close friends.
All in all I give it a 7 out of 10. If you liked this movie, I certainly recommend to watch "Frida" as well, but skip the interview with Salma Hayek, which I considered to be a 15 minute (if I recall correctly) rambling ego trip.
