Today I bought 2 books at the second hand book store. Although I still have quite some books to read, currently reading Amarinta station by Jack Vance, one has to be prepared. So I bought the following books:
I have read quite some books written by Ursula K. Le Guin, so I didn't hesitate much when I saw this book, even though the back has a quote from Chicago Sun-Times stating that "... proves that Le Guin can no longer be labelled a writer of fantasy or science fiction". Hmmmm...
While writing this entry, I noticed that Ursula K. Le Guin's official website has information on how to prepare and submit a manuscript, and a sketchy introduction to copyright and contracts. I am certainly going to read both. Also an encouraging read was the rejection letter for The Left Hand of Darkness,
On the same site I also found "A few words to a young writer", a recommended (short) read.
I haven't read books written by Dennis Lehane, but the back of the book sounds promising: "stunning ... a story that chills to the bone" (Orlando Sentinel).
