Decorating the walls with tillandsias

Tuesday, April 27, 2004 | 0 comments

Since the walls inside our house are just stones painted white, it's a great place to attach air plants (Tillandsia sp.) to.

So today we decorated the walls with tillandsias we took with us last Sunday from La Martinica Hill to keep the cluster of air plants we had found in Xico company.

I used tie wraps to attach the air plants to nails, which are abundantly sticking out of the walls in our apartment at quite random locations. Esmeralda used her glue gun.

Another cluster of tillandsia, was attached to the wall near the door. One of the plants has several small flower buds.

The last one, a small air plant cluster with a small fern, was put inside the bedroom.

Note that all air plants where taken from branches on the forest floor - where the plants rot away - or wood that was going to be used as firewood.
