Comments: Handwriting with Messenger 7.0 beta

Probably already someone has been teasing you with handwritten messages you could view but not create with Messenger 6.2 yourself. Or maybe you just downloaded Messenger 7.0 beta and the handwrite tab is missing. If you are using either Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000 (with service pack 3 or above) you can install handwrite capabilities in a few simple steps.

Read the rest of Handwriting with Messenger 7.0 beta.

Before you post, make sure you've read Handwriting with MSN Messenger 7.0 beta.

Post which just state "It doesn't work, help!" will not be added.

Recent versions of MSN Messenger have in the Messages Options "Show the Handwrite tab in conversation windows". Make sure it is enabled. (Select Options in the Tools menu, and select Messages in the Options window that pops up).

what happens if you send an ink message to a person who is using a webcam for a separate msn messenger conversation window? i encounted this situation and my handwritten message was not delivered.

i've installed the journal viewer and it's security updates. following all the steps.

the handwriting tab appears but i can't select that option. it keeps popping up this message which tells me that i need to install or update my software.

it says on the msn help site that i need a service pack 3 or later? for my windows XP??? so is this an actual problem? and is there anyways to get around it?

I have followed all instructions and already had MSN messenger beta installed. I have also installed Journal Viewer. When i am talking to someone in a conversation, i want to draw something, so, i press the handwriting tab. Yet, it says i need to update or install my software. Then it tells me i need to update to a service pack 3 or later. But i have a windows XP. How do i fix this problem, if it is a problem.

I've got the handwriting tab and everything, installed all programs needed, and it seems to be working fine. If I click on the grid and stuff, it works. But when I try clicking and dragging to make a picture, it doesn't work. Why?

hey guyz, the only way you can get the handwriting tab back is ... to re-install msn 7.5 and then upgrading it to msn live 8.0.0689 and it will automatically be added onto the wlm 8.0

Hi, I had teh same question as well. Couldn't use the handwriting tab as I needed to update etc. I've been looking for solutions and i finally found a simple one that worked. So if you haven't tried this, it's definatly worth a try.

Download the microsoft journal viewer and the update as mentioned in the Handwriting with Messenger 7.0 beta. Exit msn, install them.

Now if this doesn't work, go to configuration > add/remove software > msn > repair. This will not uninstall msn, but repairs it. Then install the microsoft viewer again (it has a repair function) and the update.

I hope it helps.

@lucy parker: If you are getting error 80048820, along with the extended error code 80048411 or 800048412, updating date and time seems to help, see Messenger Support Space: Configuring Windows Live Messenger through the Windows XP firewall and AskSomeOne.net -> Windows Live Messenger Error 80048412

Hope this helps

thanks to the guy who first suggested to repair msn live to get the windows journal viewer working, thank u so much :D

Posted by AZOne at 05:26 GMT on 8 April 2007

"go to configuration > add/remove software > msn > repair. This will not uninstall msn, but repairs it. Then install the microsoft viewer again (it has a repair function) and the update.

I hope it helps. "

that helped me and my friend out, and you may also wanna try just re-installing the journal viewer again. This is for people who can see the tab, but it says they need to update.
