Today Esme was helping her mother with a Christmas tablecloth. It has Christmas stars (Poinsettia, Mexican flame leaf, Noche Buena (Euphorbia pulcherrima)) for decoration, and holly leaves. Esme asked me if I knew that the Noche Buena is a native plant of Mexico, which I didn't, even though I have seen the plant growing in the wild here, quite tall even. I did know though, that what most people call the flowers are actually colored leaves, and that the actual flowers are easily overlooked.
Read the rest of Christmas star or Poinsettia.
