Logitech M215 wireless mouse works with Raspberry Pi 2 Model B

June 6, 2017

Today, I decided to check if the Logitech M215 wireless mouse I had in storage would work with a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. The latter I had ordered with Amazon nearly 2 years ago and was part of the CanaKit Raspberry Pi 2 Ultimate Starter Kit with WiFi . Until recently it was used for running OpenElec, which currently runs on a newer Raspberry Pi 3. The "decommissioned" Raspberry Pi 2 is currently running a recent version of Raspbian and used by our children to learn Python and play games.

To test it I just plugged in the Logitech unifying receiver into one of the USB ports and turned the mouse on. It worked without a single problem. No need to install additional software nor tweaking of configuration files. As our son Adam is home with chicken pox he has been playing Minecraft - Pi edition most of the morning, using the wireless mouse. While he dropped it twice, it still works. The mouse is used in combination with a wired Dell keyboard.
